5 Tips to Create Romance When You’re Short on Time

You lead a busy and stressful life.  You have so many balls to juggle – and if you’re anything like me, it’s not always elegant!

So where do you find time for romance?

You might already have started to feel the passion and intimacy disappear.   You probably know that in order to get it back and have the loving, nourishing, sexy relationship you want you need to give it some time and attention…  But you just don’t know where to find the time.

Being busy doesn’t mean you have to neglect your partner or your relationship.

With a little bit of effort and the practical tips below – you can make sure your relationship stays strong and stands the test of time – even with your hectic lifestyle.

When you’re busy, getting some nookie at the end of the night when you fall into bed can be the last thing on your mind.  Many women feel like it takes ‘too much time and effort’ to turn them on.  These tips will help you feel closer on a daily basis and help you feel ‘more ready’ once you do get into bed.

Let’s get this started:

1.  Make your relationship a priority.

Holding this attitude means that recognise that your relationship isn’t going to take care of itself.  Like anything you are going to need to give it some time and energy.  You’re going to need to find a balance.

Before taking on extra commitments check in as to the impact on your relationship.  Notice what you can let go of so your relationship stays strong.  Take the time that you can – and try out the rest of the tips.

2.  Stay connected throughout the day.

You might not have a lot of time alone together, but staying in touch when you can throughout the day can make a big difference to your feeling of connection when you get home at night.

  • A 5 minute cuddle in the morning before you get out of bed helps you feel connected and brings your energy into alignment with each other.
  • Be present and mean it when you kiss each other hello and goodbye.
  • Text or email throughout the day just to let your partner know that you’re thinking of them – it can mean so much.

3.  Be present when you are together.

You might only have a small window of time together, so make the most of that time by really being present when you are together.

  • Really look at each other in the eyes when you talk.
  • For just a few minutes let go of everything else and give your partner your love and attention.
  • Share your emotions and not just what is happening practically.
  • Even 15 minutes a day will make a big difference.

4.  Touch when you can.

Touch triggers your body to release Oxytocin, a bonding hormone that helps you feel bonded and connected to your partner.  Touching outside of the bedroom will be especially helpful in building the anticipation and passion between you.  Touch each other when you can.

  • Hold hands
  • Cuddle
  • Give each other a neck rub while you’re watching TV
  • Spend 5 minutes cuddling in the morning before you get out of bed…

5.  Schedule it.

When it’s in your schedule – you’re more likely to do it.  When you’re short on time, adding your relationship to your schedule can make a big difference – don’t expect it to ‘just happen’.

Yes, booking date night a few weeks in advance and scheduling sex lacks a feeling of romance and spontaneity, but not having either of those at all really lacks romance!

  • Work out how often you can have ‘date night’ and how you can make sure that happens.  Can you find 2 hours once a week or once a fortnight?
  • Can you make a ‘meeting for the bedroom’ and turn off technology or miss a social event and go to bed early?
  • Can you block out a weekend every couple of months and go away for the night – no work, no phone calls, just the two of you?

Keeping your relationship strong and passionate with the stress and business of everyday life is a challenge.
